Newcastle Woolsington Airport (NCL)
Comment / Flybe recently announced an expansion of their Newcastle portfolio, introducing new services to Rennes and Aberdeen, whilst also taking over the three-times daily service to London Gatwick, from Jet2. After just a year on the route - last vacated by BA in March 2007 - it seems than Jet2 can't make the route viable with a 737. Flybe obviously think they can do better with their Q400s. We'll see...

Embraer ERJ-145EU
G-EMBW (cn 14500546)
11th February 2008
Newcastle Woolsington Airport (NCL)
Comment / I've been waiting a while to catch one of these - the ERJ's inherited by Flybe after the takeover of BA Connect last year. Here's G-EMBW arriving on an early flight up to the north east from Southampton.
British Airways
Airbus A320-211
G-BUSG (cn 039)
11th February 2008
Newcastle Woolsington Airport (NCL)
Comment / With the disposal of the series -100s completed over the winter, it seems BA's plans for expansion has given it's elderly Airbus A320 series -200s a stay of execution. The five aircraft were originally slated for retirement this year, but will now stay on line until 2010/11 as Boeing 757s are deployed to the new Open Skies project. Here, G-BUSG arrives at Newcastle in lovely morning sunlight.

Boeing 737-377(QC)
G-CELY (cn 23662/1316)
11th February 2008
Newcastle Woolsington Airport (NCL)
Comment / You don't see many of the Jet2 Boeing 737s with the original silver tails around any more. Not that you can make this one out anyway - G-CELY basks in the bright sunlight on final for runway 25.
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines
Boeing 737-306
PH-BTE (cn 27421/2438)
11th February 2008
Newcastle Woolsington Airport (NCL)
Comment / Still to be painted into the latest KLM livery, PH-BTE arrives at Newcastle with it's beacon flashing on the first flight of the day from Amsterdam. This series -306 was delivered in March 1993.

Comment / Lufthansa Regional recently went double daily on the Newcastle to Dusseldorf route. It's operated by the CRJ-200s of Eurowings, such as D-ACRP seen here.

Comment / The new Thai livery is certainly a nice one, but the classic colours still hold their worth. Great to see HS-TGK climbing away from Heathrow's runway 27L, still in the old scheme.
