11th June 2006
London Stansted Airport (STN)
Comment / A welcome visitor to Stansted this evening, arriving as TAY975B on runway 23 from the large TNT hub at Leige. Now flying as a freighter aircraft, OO-TND was originally delivered to Piedmont Airlines in March 1987, and later flew with USAir and US Airways. UPDATE 15/06/2006 - This aircraft made an emergency landing at Birmingham this morning with no right hand side undercarriage gear. The flight was originally enroute from Leige to Stansted, but was forced to divert to East Midlands due to bad visibility at Stansted. It seems that the aircraft then made a poor landing at East Midlands, losing the right undercarriage in the process, and as a result opted to make an emergency landing at Birmingham.

London Stansted Airport (STN)
Comment / Aircraft of the Dubai Air Wing are regular visitors to Stansted, often arriving and parking up on the northside for a couple of days or so. Boeing 747-400 A6-HRM arrived yesterday evening, about an hour before sunset, an aircraft which joined the wing from United Air Lines in 2003.

Comment / Yak-42 RA-43285 sits on the northside at Stansted, having arrived the previous day. With the date being 6th June, one wonders what it would have been like standing in this very spot watching B-26 Marauders of the USAAF being prepared for D-Day missions over Normandy - exactly 62 years ago.

Comment / A classic sits on the northside at Stansted, as an Air Berlin 737 departs 05 in the background. This private 727 was originally delivered to United in 1967, and converted into a corporate airliner in 1981. She then served as N341TC and P4-ONE, before taking up the registration P4-FLY not so long ago.
